NORSTAR MODULAR I.C.S. DIGITAL BUSINESS TELEPHONE
The Modular Integrated Communications System (also known as the MICS Norstar or the Big Norstar) can expand to support 272 ports combined (lines and phones). The unit pictured at left is equipped with one station module and one trunk module. As your business needs grow, these modules are easily added.
The full 272-port configuration assumes that there will be a total of 96 digital trunks in the system (48 T-1 trunks and 48 ISDN-BRI trunks) and 32 Companion cellular phones. The system will support two T-1 cards (48 digital T-1 lines or 46 PRI lines) and a total of six ISDN-BRI cards (48 BRI lines) - perfect for applications utilizing 150 phones or less. Norstars are extremely versatile and reliable systems. For the last six years they have been the best selling telephone systems in the world. It is also worth mentioning that Nortel has been manufacturing Norstar telephone systems since 1988 and
they just keep improving them every year by increasing processor speed and adding new features. Most manufacturers tend to obsolete their entire product line every three to five years, forcing their end users to buy all new phones and systems at a frightening pace!This product line has been such a winner for Nortel that they have absolutely no plans to discontinue it. In fact, their newest Norstar system, known as the Business Communications Manager, is now a true hybrid system, incorporating voice, data and networking capabilities, all together in one, integrated package. Another noteworthy feature about the Norstar systems is that you can take a 1988 Norstar telephone and plug it into a brand new 2002 Norstar system, and it not only works, it is capable of utilizing all of the newest features and functions! You can also plug a brand new 2002 Norstar phone in to a 1988 Norstar system and it works too! There’s not another key system manufacturer on the planet that can make such a claim and it is no wonder that once people switch to Nortel, they seldom choose another brand the next time around.
The Modular I.C.S. cabinet (pictured at left by itself) will support 32 phones and either 8 analog trunks or 48 digital trunks (no add on modules required).
NORSTAR COMPACT I.C.S. DIGITAL BUSINESS TELEPHONE SYSTEM The Compact Integrated Communications System (pictured at left and also known as the Small Norstar or the CICS) will support a total of 8 analog lines and up to 24 phones (8 X 24). It is not expandable beyond that point but it can be easily replaced with the Modular ICS cabinet if the users requirements ever exceed 8 lines or 24 phones. This system is ideal for applications with up to 8 lines and 16 phones or less. If you need more than 16 phones though, it’s actually less expensive to purchase the Modular I.C.S. as opposed to expanding the Compact. All of the Norstar telephones are interchangeable between these two systems and the features are identical, which makes for an incredibly easy conversion to the larger system.
STARTALK MOD PLUS VOICE MAIL SYSTEM
This system is specifically designed for a seamless digital interface with any Norstar system. It is typically used on the larger Norstar as it will allow up to 1000 mailboxes and it can be expanded to sixteen voice channels. It can also be networked to other systems (off site), thereby eliminating the need to purchase additional voice mail systems at other locations. This unit also has a built in auto attendant capable of answering external calls and presenting multi-layered, custom designed, menus and choices for your customers. It provides an extremely reliable back up for busy operators or it can eliminate the need for an operator all together if you so desire. Any mailbox can be configured to automatically page or call the mailbox owner when a message is received. This can occur during specific hours or around the clock, making this an excellent messaging and dispatching system for today’s automated office. If configured with the large hard drive, this system will provide up to 200 hours of message storage. A sixteen-channel system is capable of answering sixteen simultaneous external calls or sixteen simultaneous internal calls to voice mailboxes or any combination of the two (such as eight external calls and eight voice mail calls).
STARTALK FLASH VOICE MAIL SYSTEM The only real differences between this system and the Mod-Plus system are: the overall capacities and the fact that this system is totally silent (it uses memory chips and has no hard drive or fan). The system is available in two- or four-channel models. The two-channel system will support 24 mailboxes and the four-channel system will support 48 mailboxes. This system is not expandable beyond four channels or 48 mailboxes.
M-7324 SET This model is the first choice for busy system operators and attendants. It is a full featured, executive display set with 24 programmable line buttons and a built in, hands-free speakerphone. The line buttons can also be programmed as feature buttons or they can be programmed to indicate when a particular user is on the phone. If more than 24 line buttons are required, up to two C.A.P. Modules can be added to this phone for a total of 120 programmable line or feature buttons.
C.A.P. (CENTRALIZED ATTENDENT PROCESSOR) MODULE Each C.A.P. Module (a.k.a. Operator Console) provides 48 additional line or feature buttons for the operator set (M-7324) only.A maximum of five C.A.P. modules can be supported by the M.I.C.S. The C.I.C.S. will support two.
M-7310 SET This executive display set is by far the most popular Norstar set and it is extremely versatile. It provides up to ten line buttons, 24 feature or station buttons, and it has a built in hands-free speakerphone. Add a busy lamp field (as pictured below) and it easily doubles as an operator or secretarial set.
BUSY LAMP FIELD The busy lamp field is a twenty four- position display that can only be mounted on the M-7310 sets (as pictured at left). This enables the user to see who is on the phone at any given time, and route calls accordingly. A user with an M-7310 set and a busy lamp field can easily double as an operator or a back up operator at any time.
M-7208 SET This is a basic utilitarian set with a display, eight line buttons and a built in hands-free speakerphone. This set is ideal for large quantities of office or clerical personnel, (or any application where only a few feature or autodial buttons are required). It is very cost effective and versatile.
M-7100 SET This is a very basic, single line set with a display. It does not include a speakerphone but it does include a built-in paging speaker (like all of the other Norstar sets). This set is ideal for use as a courtesy or warehouse phone or it can be used in any other application where no feature buttons are required. Almost all of the Norstar features can be utilized by any of the different Norstar sets by pressing the feature button and dialing the appropriate feature code.
T-SERIES PHONES
The new T Series Norstar sets are essentially the same phones as the M series in a new, more compact package. Because the M series sets have been so well received over the years and because so many customers will want their new phones to match their old ones, they are still making the M series sets too. The M series sets also appear to be a little more durable than the T series sets.
T-7316 SET This set was designed to replace the M-7310 set. It now has sixteen line buttons instead of ten.
T-7208 SET This set was designed to replace the M-7208 set.
T-7100 SET This set was designed to replace the M-7100 set.
T-7406 CORDLESS SET The T-7406 Cordless Telephone provides a desktop mobility solution. It is designed for use in small to medium enterprise sites, branch offices or franchise sites. These businesses typically require a coverage area of 282,000 feet or less, with one to six users. A key component of both the Business Series and Norstar Portfolios, the T-7406 Cordless Telephone enables you to deliver better customer service while making your employees more productive with workspace mobility. ANALOG TERMINAL ADAPTER An A.T.A. is a small device used to convert a digital Norstar station port back to analog. This allows for the seamless interface of any analog device such as a modem, fax machine, single line phone, or a generic cordless set, etcetera. The C.I.C.S. comes pre-equipped with one built in A.T.A. Analog Terminal Modules are also available for this system and they provide up to eight analog ports in one, sealed, modular unit.
NORSTAR CONFERENCE UNIT This is probably the very best quality speakerphone in the world. Unlike most speakerphones, this unit is full duplex which means you can talk and hear each other at the same time. This means no more chopped up words or sentences and the high quality speaker assures you of crystal clarity on every call (except cell phones and poor connections of course). It’s actually a digital Norstar set so the users can also activate any Norstar feature with this unit.
FAST REMOTE ACCESS DEVICE This little device is worth its’ weight in gold because it enables your technicians to access and program your system by remote. Many service calls can be avoided all together when you equip your system with a FastRad.
S.M.D.R. UNIT A Station Message Detail Recording unit enables you to capture and print a complete call log of all incoming and outgoing calls in your system.
